To ensure the safe use of Lisinopril, let your doctor know if you have a history or suffer from any of these conditions:
For person with kidney disease or diabetes, you may not combine Lisinopril with aliskiren.
Lisinopril should be used precisely as prescribed. Do not take smaller or larger doses than recommended. The dose should be taken with a full glass of water (8 ounces). You can take the medicine with or without food.
Certain conditions can lead to extremely low blood pressure while using Lisinopril. Those conditions include diarrhea, vomiting, heart disease, heavy sweating, low salt diet, dialysis, taking water pills. Let the doctor know if you suffer from a disease that causes vomiting or diarrhea.
The doctor will need to check your blood pressure from time to time. Your liver and kidney function may also need regular testing.
Let other doctors know you are using Lisinopril. This is especially so if you need surgery. You may be required to stop using the drug for some time before and after surgery.
FDA Pregnancy Classification
Category D Don’t use this drug while pregnant. Lisinopril can harm an unborn baby by causing injuries or even death. This is more so if you use the drug in your 2nd or 3rd trimester. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant during treatment. It is unknown if Lisinopril can pass into breast milk and whether it can harm a breastfeeding baby. Contact your doctor before you start using this medication while nursing a baby.

Persons with hereditary angioedema should not use Lisinopril.
To avoid unpleasant outcomes, if you have diabetes, do not use this drug with other drugs that contain aliskiren (Tekamlo, Amturnide, Valturna, Tekturna)
Don’t use Lisinopril if you are allergic to it or to other angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors like fosinopril, trandolapril, quinapril, moexipril, captopril, benazepril, and enalapril. Persons with kidney disease should not combine this drug with aliskiren.
