How to Use

To ensure the safe use of prednisolone, let your doctor know if you have a history or suffer from any of these conditions:

Prednisolone should be used as prescribed. The dose may occasionally be changed by the doctor to help achieve the best results. In case of unusual stress like fever, infections or serious illnesses, your body’s steroid needs may change. You should also let the doctor know if you are scheduled for surgery.

Use a dose measuring cup or spoon to measure liquid prednisolone. The oral suspension needs to be shaken well before measuring. Take note of the instructions on the product label.

For the oral disintegrating tablet, don’t remove it from its pack until it is time for use. Use dry hands to handle the tablet. Place it in the mouth and don’t swallow. Allow it to dissolve and swallow as it disintegrates.

It is unknown if prednisolone can cause harm to an unborn baby. Prednisolone may pass into breast milk and can harm a breastfeeding baby. Let the doctor know if you are pregnant or nursing an infant.

Steroids may affect the normal growth of children. Inform your doctor if your child seems not to be growing at a normal rate.

Safety

If you are allergic to prednisolone, do not use this drug. The drug should also not be used by patients with any fungal infection. Your doctor should understand your medical condition before a prescription is given. You will need to inform him of all the drugs you are using in order to prevent severe interactions. Your medical condition will influence the dosage. Let the doctor know of all new health conditions during the course of treatment.

Prednisolone is a steroid and like other steroids, it can weaken your immune system to some degree. During treatment, you may be more susceptible to illnesses. Inform your doctor of any infection or illness you may have had in the past weeks. You should also not be near sick people or those with infections. Seek emergency medical help if you are exposed to measles or chickenpox.

Steroids may cause withdrawal symptoms. Don’t stop using prednisolone abruptly.
